Description
Genuine United States Mint 1892-1916 Silver Barber Quarter (E0522)
The Liberty Head Quater is popularly known as the Barber Quarter, named for its designer, Chief mint Engraver Charles E. Barber. The head of Liberty was a dramatic change and welcome relief from the seated figure that had appeared on nearly all U. S. Coinage for morethan 50 years. The design’s boldness and absence of detail helped the coin to wear well, and Barber Quarters continued to circulate for more than 25 years after production stopped. Barber used the same design on the Dime an Half Dollar coins in circulation at the time. It was the last time different denomination coins shared the same design and the last time all cirulating U. S. Mint coins were designed by mint engravers.
